Focus on the Game, Ignore the Pain. This year's softball pitcher, Hannah Bockting (11), is in pain due to the frequent throwing that comes with her position.
“I was trying to focus on the game and not on the pain that I was in. During the game, my shoulder was hurting, but as the pitcher, I know how much my body can take, and I know that I can’t let my team down. When it comes to the things you love and the people you love, you can find a way to push through that pain and do the job that needs to be done. Every team needs a leader, and, as a pitcher and captain, I want to show these girls that no matter how much it hurts, no matter how frustrated you are, no matter how much you just want to give in, you have to push yourself to keep going. Find your reason to go on that field, pick up that ball, and play the game.”
The Lady Bearcats have had a great season so far, winning their first game in two years, showing better leadership with the captains, and more team bonding. “Everyone at the end of the game, comes together to pick each other up and to have the courage and integrity to show up to each game and give it their all,” said Emma Starke (10), 2019-20 softball manager.
