Hermann High School yearbook editors attended the Walsworth Regional Workshop at South Callaway High School yesterday. During the workshop, editors learned the basics of their design software, went over photography fundamentals and learned interviewing techniques for developing valuable stories.
Editors this year are Geena Lee (12) , Senior Editor; Alyce Jones (12) , Junior Editor; Elizabeth Vieth (10) , Copy Editor; Charlotte Ervin (10), Senior Sales and Marketing Editor; Emma Starke (10), Junior Sales and Marketing Editor; Hadley Oden (10), Photo Editor; and Aly Bean (11), Social Media Editor.
“I had no idea what I was walking into when I first walked into the workshop. When I first walked into the auditorium, everyone was playing games, and I had no idea what was going on. For me, it was a huge first step for coming into yearbook. I always wanted to take yearbook [before this year], but I never had time. I definitely understand Walsworth [Online Design] better after yesterday. [The workshop] helped me pick everything up like I was relearning how to ride a bike,” said Lee.
During the interview session, Starke volunteered to be the subject of the interview.
“[Being the subject of the interview session] was scary. Interviewing might not be my strong suit, but I do love taking pictures. The photography session helped me understand manual basics better: shutter speed, ISO, and aperture,” said Starke.
