Music blared through the speakers as the dance team made their way onto the gym floor during the Homecoming assembly. A few more members made their way to the floor with the team though. Sam Holland (12), Terrance Williams (12), Tyler Hartman (10), and Logan Dobbs (11) were the big surprise Bearcat fans did not expect to emerge with the dance team.
“It was super fun to perform with the dance team, I was nervous to do it at first, but I am glad I did it,” said Hartman. “I was worried about what kind of response we would get. I got mostly positive responses, some teasing, everyone seemed to like it.”
Prior to the assembly, the dance team approached the guys to see if they would like to collaborate. It was a secret from everyone, even the school board.
In addition to the astounding halftime performance, this year’s homecoming had another surprising twist. This was the first year the German exchange students were present for the game.
Jenna Rood (11), one of the hosts, said, “[The Germans] loved [Homecoming], and it was really different from anything they had experienced before. They said it was like any American movie.”
The Bearcats played against the Pacific Indians and won with a staggering score of 40-14. Following the game, Student Council hosted a fifth quarter, concluding the Homecoming festivities.
