In a world full of natural disasters and problems, the Hermann High School National Honor Society decided to take a stand and help those in need. They decided to help those in need in the Hermann area, as well as those affected by Hurricane Harvey and Irma. In doing so, they had a table at all the home football games, accepting cash and food donations, as well as hosting a food drive throughout the high school classes.
“We hope to get people in our school aware of the disasters that are happening and get us involved in helping out even if ourselves [we] are not the ones affected by the disasters,” National Honor Society president, Jessica Rood (12) informed.
“When you see all these terrible things on the news and they get maybe a week of coverage and then it’s gone. But it doesn’t mean that everything is cleaned up and okay, so I think it’s important that we show our support in the weeks that follow, even though it is not getting much coverage on the news,” added Rood.
For students wanting to become more involved in the relief process, talk to Mrs. Veith or Rood for more information on fundraising.
